My Money Matters
Three Parishes Big Local is working with Citizens Advice Shropshire on a 4 year project that will help the residents of Weston Rhyn, St Martins and Gobowen manage their household finances. ‘My Money Matters’ started in April 2017 and supports local people with:
- Budgeting advice
- General Money Management
- Shopping habits and food waste
- Benefits advice
- Information on Credit Union savings and loans
- Advice on switching gas and electricity suppliers
- Advice on fuel poverty and rural food issues
The project has been running for more than 3 years and has helped over 363 local people, mostly with benefits advice or switching utilities. The advice and support that they have received from Karen Williams through My Money Matters has helped them get over £517,188 in extra benefits and other income between them. This is money that they were entitled to but didn’t know that they could claim.
Due to Covid-19, all drop in sessions and face to face appointments have been cancelled until further notice. However, Karen is still providing this vital service by telephone between 9am and 5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Please note that this service will not be available on some dates – please see poster below.
